Project Summary
The focus of this project was enhancing the production of peppers through the use of chemical injection and irrigation scheduling with a sub-irrigation drip system. This year the project consisted of setting a target pH for four drip zones, which was maintained throughout the season by acid injection. The results showed that the lowest pH zone, which had a target pH of 6.3 and an actual average pH of 6.32, had the highest plant production of 4.8 lbs. There was significant reduction in yield at the higher pH level (6.9) with an average per plant production of 3.7 lbs.
